Lead Millwright
Snider Industries is a family-owned, vertically integrated lumber manufacturer with a 90+ year history of steady growth and reliability. We're proud to operate a clean, well-run facility where employees often spend their entire careers. We’re now hiring a Lead Millwright to take over from a long-serving team member who has been with us for over 50 years. This is a key role for our plant, and we’re looking for someone with strong mechanical skills and leadership experience to carry that legacy forward.
Position Summary:
As our Lead Millwright, you’ll be responsible for managing the mechanical health of our plant—overseeing machinery installation, maintenance, and repair. You’ll lead a small team of welders and millwrights while doing hands-on work yourself. This role requires deep mechanical know-how, strong leadership, and an uncompromising eye for quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and mentor a team in the repair, installation, and maintenance of industrial machinery.
• Oversee the alignment, assembly, and calibration of key systems.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
• Perform hands-on welding and fabrication in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead).
• Use rigging and machine alignment techniques to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain a clean and safe shop environment.
• Communicate with production teams and supervisors to ensure smooth plant operation.
• Uphold high standards of safety, precision, and reliability.
• Perform other duties as needed.
What You’ll Need:
Required:
• 5+ years of experience as a millwright in an industrial setting.
• Proven leadership skills—able to direct and develop others while maintaining your own workload.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, etc.
• Proficiency in welding (TIG, Stick, etc.), rigging, and shop equipment.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics.
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards and PPE usage.
• Able to lift 75 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Preferred:
• High school diploma or technical school experience.
• Experience working in sawmills or similar production environments.
Core Competencies:
• Safety-first mindset
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Integrity and dependability
• High attention to detail
• Clear communication and teamwork
